Yesterday’s otter may have been a little dark, so I am going to attempt to redeem myself today.  This is Mary Tyler Motter, and 40 years ago, The Mary Tyler Moore Show made its debut on CBS.  The premise of the show was completely mind-blowing for many Americans.  Mary was a 30-year-old woman, who was not married, and she had a job.  A JOB!  And she wasn’t a secretary!  At least American’s could sleep comfortably knowing that she was likely earning 60% of what her male counterparts were earning for the same job.
SOCIOECONOMIC UPDATE:  Congratulations America, women now earn 80% of what men earn for the same work.  Perhaps by 2050 you will be earning the same amount of money as men.  Maybe the Tea Baggers could redirect some of their misplaced rage on this?
